Photoshop

I primarily use Photoshop for special effects photo editing, and composite photo editing. The below example shows a before and after of a special effects edit adding ice powers to subject that is cosplaying Todoroki, from Boku no Hero Academia, who has ice and fire powers. The starting photo was taken by photographer @catmonkeyphotography .

Illustrator

My favourite things to create with Illustrator are patterns and simple designs from quotes. The below shows a pattern I created in Illustrator on the left (I later ordered this pattern from Spoonflower and made the mask I wear everyday from it) and vector of a potion with 4-sided dice in it to symbolize the "Potion of Greater Healing" item from Dungeons and Dragons.

Procreate

The below is an animation that was created almost entirely in Procreate, using animation assist. After everything was drawn and animated once, I exported the footage into Adobe Premiere to add some frame holds to slow the timing of the piece. There are 6 animations on a still background in this video (try to find them all!).

Canva

Canva is an online layout tool for all types of professionals that is convenient and easy to use. Though it comes with many pre-designed templates, the layout of the below examples of a tip-sheet poster (left) and a banner with logo design (right) were designed by me from scratch. The logo for Tsukino-con's yearly scavenger hunt was also designed by me, using design elements from the Tsukino-con logo and elements provided by Canva.

Sketchnoting

Sketchnoting, also known as Graphic Recording, is the skill of taking visual notes. Studies show that our brains process visual information much more easily, and that we remember better when we attach a visual cue to information. The below are examples of visual summaries of HBR article "Developing Employees is the key to Retention" (right) and a meeting faciliation technique "6 Hat Thinking" (left), but Sketchnoting can also be used to take live notes, such as from lectures, lessons, or meetings.

Writing

In 2014 I graduated from Camosun College with an Associate's degree in creative writing that included courses in fiction writing, non-fiction writing, and script writing. I primarily use this skill for creative side projects such as the below skit script written for a cosplay contest (left) and which won Best in Show Journeyman 2019. On the right is a Dungeons and Dragons one shot adventure I wrote taking inspiration from the tale told by Liam O'brien in Critical Role's show "Narrative Telephone." This adventure has not yet been playetested, but please feel free to download and try out with your own adventuring party! Click on either image to download the full word document.
